"Let us not be satisfied with just giving money. Money is not enough, money can be got, but they [people] need your hearts to love them. So, spread your love everywhere you go." Mother Teresa
Philanthropy
I used to think that philantropy was the priviledge of the super rich, who could afford to give from their excess. Well, as most other stereotypes, that's a false one, too! Loving man and contributing to the welfare of those in need by giving of yourself is as Christian as Christ Himself!
“Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven." (Mat. 5:16)
I can't help everyone who is in need and I have to accept the difficult fact that we live in a broken world I can't fix.
But I can respond to those situation that cross my own path in life. Those are the ones I will stand before God to answer for. This is not a fear issue, it's a reality issue. We are our brother's keeper. We can do better.
Whether it's giving your time, money or other resources and whether it's done through non-profits, churches or businesses, loving your fellow man and showing the love of God is what really counts at the end of the day.
The following reflects only some of the opportunities I've had the priviledge of being part of in the last 20 years as a pastor and founder of a foundation. Creating opportunities for the most vulnerable is part of what propels my inner engine as I look at the large picture of what I live for and what I want my legacy to be.
